Absylux®
(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) Absylux ABS is a low cost engineering plastic that is easy to machine and fabricate. Absylux is an ideal material for structural applications when impact resistance, strength, and stiffness are required. It is widely used for machining pre-production prototypes since it has excellent dimensional stability and is easy to paint and glue. Natural (beige) and black Absylux are FDA compliant for use in food processing applications.
Dielux®
(acetal copolymer - PTFE filled) Dielux PTFE filled acetal copolymer is an outstanding bearing and wear material for use in both wet and dry environments. Dielux is frequently used in place of traditional metal and plastic bearing materials when low friction, excellent wear properties, and good dimensional stability are required. The PTFE filler allows Dielux to be used without additional lubricants in applications where grease and oil are undesirable. The white grade of Dielux is FDA compliant for use in food processing machinery.
DuraPeek
(Polyetheretherketone) DuraPEEK is a high performance semi-crystalline thermoplastic. DuraPEEK's characteristics include high temperature performance, excellent wear properties, superior chemical resistance and outstanding toughness and strength. Currently Westlake is stocking DuraPEEK in film, rod and select sizes of sheet.
Kynar® 1000 HD
(polyvinylidene fluoride) Manufactured from Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride resin. This material offers excellent corrosion and chemical resistance at both ambient and elevated temperatures. PVDF is also inherently UV stable, mechanically tough, abrasion and flame resistant. Kynar 1000 is a whiter grade of PVDF than 740.
Kynar® 2850
(polyvinylidene fluoride) Manufactured from Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride resin. This material offers excellent corrosion and chemical resistance at both ambient and elevated temperatures. PVDF is also inherently UV stable, mechanically tough, abrasion and flame resistant.
Kynar® 740
(polyvinylidene fluoride) Manufactured from Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride resin. This material offers excellent corrosion and chemical resistance at both ambient and elevated temperatures. PVDF is also inherently UV stable, mechanically tough, abrasion and flame resistant.
Lennite Implant Grade
(ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) Compression molded medical grade UHMWPE is produced in accordance with ASTM F-648 standards for use as an implant grade material and is ISO 5834-1 and ISO 5834-2 compliant for use in international markets. Westlake compression molded sheets are formed under heat and pressure, and are slowly cooled to produce a very dimensionally stable, virtually stress-free sheet ideal for machining and fabrication. When machining close tolerance parts, a fabricator will experience very little material movement. Our proprietary process provides sheets with inherent stress levels that are extremely low or nonexistent in some cases than those typically found in the same materials that have been extruded and secondarily annealed. Westlake production is performed under clean room conditions in accordance with FDA mandated GMPS. Our quality system is ISO 9001 certified.
Norylux
(modified polyphenylene oxide) Norylux modified PPO is a strong engineering plastic with outstanding mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. Low moisture absorption and low thermal expansion make Norylux one of the most dimensionally stable thermoplastics available. Norylux is widely used for electrical housings and structural components since it has excellent insulating properties, flame resistance, and dimensional stability over a wide range of service temperatures. Norylux is often selected for fluid handling applications since it has low moisture absorption and excellent strength and stiffness. Norylux is easy to fabricate, paint, and glue.
Pomalux®
(acetal copolymer) Pomalux is a high-performance acetal copolymer that has excellent mechanical, electrical, and wear properties. It is engineered to provide outstanding dimensional stability, even when machining parts with complex geometries. Pomalux is an excellent choice for many bearing and wear applications since it has low coefficient of friction and wears well in both wet and dry environments. It is widely used for assembly jigs and fixtures because of its inherent dimensional stability and excellent wear properties. Pomalux is often specified for electrical applications when low moisture absorption and high dielectric strength are required. Both natural (white) and black Pomalux are FDA compliant for use in food processing machinery.
Propylux®
(polypropylene) Propylux is made from polypropylene resin. Among its most notable characteristics are its mechanical toughness, chemical resistance, and resistance to abrasion. These properties make it suitable for various applications. Propylux Natural, and Void Free are FDA compliant.
Propylux® 290
(polypropylene) Through process improvement and advanced engineering, Westlake Plastics introduces the next generation of heat-stabilized polypropylene. Propylux 290 is produced from a FDA approved homopolymer resin, and exhibits better heat and dimensional stability over Propylux.
PVDF
(polyvinylidene fluoride) Manufactured from Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride resin. This material offers excellent corrosion and chemical resistance at both ambient and elevated temperatures. PVDF is also inherently UV stable, mechanically tough, abrasion and flame resistant. Kynar 1000 is a whiter grade of PVDF than 740.
Zelux®
(polycarbonate) Zelux polycarbonate is an engineering plastic with excellent dimensional stability and good strength and stiffness over a wide range of service temperatures. Zelux is often used for structural applications when clarity and impact strength are essential including lenses, manifolds, site glasses, and machine guards. Zelux is used for a wide variety of electrical applications since it has low moisture absorption, good insulating properties, and an excellent flammability rating. Zelux is easy to fabricate, paint, and glue. |
